Community Leadership

Chinese Immigrant Families Wellness Initiative (CIFWI)

As the founder, I developed programs that foster mental wellness within immigrant communities, including intergenerational trauma healing and leadership programs. CIFWI won the CDC Foundation’s Local Changemaker Award and engaged over 800 community members through culturally affirming practices such as tai chi, yoga, and food distribution.

Key Programs:

  • Wellness Leadership Program: Empowering youth with tools for mental wellness and intergenerational communication.

  • Racial Healing Circles: Providing a safe space for dialogue around racial trauma.

  • Support Groups: Offering culturally appropriate support in Chinese languages.

  • Pop-up Wellness Workshops: Bringing mental health resources to the community.

Wellness Leadership Program 2020 Impact Report

In 2020, 44 Asian American youth joined the Wellness Leadership Program, resulting in significant improvements in mental health outcomes, such as reduced anxiety and increased self-compassion. 66.7% of participants reported lower anxiety levels after the program, compared to 35.9% before. Black and Asian Solidarity Work

In the wake of George Floyd's murder, I co-organized the largest Blasian Solidarity event in Philadelphia, "All in Family," at REC Philly. This event brought together over 200 attendees to celebrate Black and Asian cultures through food, music, and art. By using joy as a platform, we created a space for honest, challenging conversations about racial biases and solidarity between communities. The event followed a viral video of Black students bullying Asian teens on SEPTA, sparking a deeper commitment to fostering understanding and unity.

Feeling Asian American: A Documentary on Identity and Resilience

As the Executive Producer of Feeling Asian American, I secured seed funding through Good Pitch Local Philadelphia and assembled a team that included Director Janet S. Kim, an Emmy-nominated filmmaker and former Sesame Street producer, alongside editors and other creative professionals. The film explores the emotional journeys of five individuals facing racial reckonings during the COVID-19 pandemic, amplifying underrepresented voices and experiences.

My role involved overseeing the project from funding to execution, demonstrating my ability to lead complex, creative collaborations that drive impactful storytelling.
